Vol 33

Book 4 of 52.
This could have been book 5, but I was waiting to see if my second book was going to arrive in the mail today.
I didn't.
So I saved the original book 4, so I can read it on the bus to New York tomorrow.

I'd give it 2 of of 5.
While Taylor and Dominic had passionate hot sex throughout the whole damn book, that was pretty much it.
No real story.
Dominic had a beef with his French grandfather because his grandfather disowned his dad when he decided to marry his African-American mother.
But even that issue took book seat.
So, it rates a 2.
I managed to finish it.
I guess in a way, that makes it entertaining, although I skipped most of it....

Anyway, I'll read Never Say Never tomorrow on the bus.
I'm such a slow reader.
For the three hours I'll be on the bus, I'll make it too page 100, if I don't skip anything.

Vol 32

今日も本を読みました。

本の名前はFixin' Tyrone.

この本はちょっと面白かった。

ちょっとだけ。
It's only January 5th and I already completed 3 out of 52 books.
I only started 3 days ago.
I'm pleased.
I have to read now before school starts up.
Then I won't have time to read anything until June.
Today I read Fixin' Tyrone by Keith Walker.
It was about this woman, Mia, who had two children with two different dads, and she was very high class.
She had a nice house, nice care, nice career, and made a lot of money.
Then Tyrone was released for jail and he wanted to rebuild their relationship that died before his 9 year old son, Mia's son, was even born.
At first Mia had no intentions of hooking up, shacking up, or even meeting up with the thug, ex-convict.
But Tyrone was willing to do anything to be with Mia, even lie, until she found out about him still selling drugs, and he almosted ruined everything.
Mia gave him two options: Stop selling and do something productive with your life or get out of my life.
Let's just say that by the end, Tyrone was a very very good certified machanic, with an AA in Business, and 3 auto-shops in the city.
What ever secret Mia had on changing a thug to a 6 figure entrepreneur, her hair salon girl friends wanted to know.
Overall I'd rather the book ☆☆☆ out of 5.
It didn't have very much action.
I'm just glad no one was killed like in all the other thug and drug books I read back when I shouldn't have been reading them.
Maybe that's why I love stories with HEA!
P.S このブックカバーは本当に好きじゃない。
あのひとはTyroneじゃない。
似るじゃない。
P.S.S: I got another book in the mail.
Michele Cameron's Never say Never
Another Romance novel.
I swear...I'll move to a different genre someday.
Next month.
I am getting sick of HEA.

Vol 31

It's 4 o clock in the morning and I just finished reading Susan Elizabeth Phillips novel, What I did for Love.
That's 2 out of 52 books.
I bought this book and *searches the floor for my barnes and noble bag*......Fixing Tyrone by Keith Walker.
Hopefully that was also be a good book.
How I do hate that name Tyrone.
No personal reason.
I have friends name Tyrone, but I just hate the name.
I liked What I Did for Love.
The story was about this actress and actor who stared as the leads of a classic sitcom 16 years ago.
They seriously HATED each other, but after a night in vegas where both ended up with spiked drinks, the awaken to find they were naked in bed, and a marriage certifcate was in the guys jean.
To save their images, especially since Bram had the worst image around, and Georgie, while is an all-american girl everyone adores, she was recently dumbed when her ex-husband cheated, they went along with the fake marriage, despite their utter, intense, and complete dislike.
It was a very funny and interesting story.
I have to wake up for work in less than 5 hours.
I guess this blog will soon turn into a "Books I'm Reading to Complete My Resolution."
Isn't that just sad.....

Vol 30

It's the first time in years that I've made a New Years Resolution.
My resolution was my read 52 books.
That's a lot for me.
I have to try all genres/styles of books.

After work today, I went to Barnes and Noble and purchased Debbie Macomber's new novel The Man You'll Marry.
I'm not going to write a review on it.
But I loved the whole magical wedding dress bit.
Very...comical and scary if you're the one to recieve it.

So right now I have 1 book down. 51 more to go.
This is going to be hard.
My mother could read 52 books in a week.
I can barely read 52 pages in 2 hours.

There was a snow storm two weeks ago, and I was trapped in the house.
I read Nalini Singh's "Guild Hunter" series, depsite my utter dislike for Vampires.
I will admit that Dmitri was very charming, more so than Rapheal.
I actually liked the novella (Sara's story) more.

I also read book 8 of the Merry Gentry series, last month.
Only a few weeks passed, so Merry hasn't given birth to her 6-dad-having twins, yet.
Galen, that canon fodder, is becoming smart and strong.
That was good to see.
Rhys was displaying a bit more leadership.
That was also good to see.
Barely any Mistral.
THAT was NOT good at all.
Shloto, Doyle, and my main man Frost, they were also good to see.
And Kitto.
Not really sure what the hell the overall point/plot of this book was, but it was fun to read.

Then there was Choices and Blindsided, by Tammy Williams.
Adored all the characters in these two books.
Andrew and Justin were very endearing.
Norris on the other hand had a tendency to refer to himself in the third person.
Weird.

I have two books coming in the mail this week.
4 books coming in the mail in Feb.
One book that is released in Feb.
One book released in March.
After that...I have no clue what to read until July, and I might be in Japan in July.
52 seems like a very hard goal for ME to reach.

I'm on break from school.
I take 5 classes next semester.
It's called a shit outside.
And I received a Holiday card from my host family in Japan, today.

Vol 29

Nalini Singh, you are so mean.

Back in August I bought a book called "A Lick of Frost" by Laurell K Hamilton.
I can't remember why I bought the book, but I read it and liked it, but was confused.
As it turned out, A Lick of Frost, was the 6th book in the Merry Gentry series.
I went to Barnes and Noble and ended up purchasing books 1-5 and 7.

Merry Gentry series is a rated 18+ series.
Basically, Merry is a hoe.
But she's a legal hoe.
Merry is the Princess of the Unseelie court.
She is the first mortal sidhe born. Ever.

The series was about the trails Merry and her men (16 of them) faced as Merry fought (against her will) to become to crowned princess of the Unseelie court.
Merry faces numerous assassination attempts from the people of both the Unseelie and Seelie courts, her deranged cousin who wants to sleep with her, her aunt who is insane, and an uncle who believes she is the one who can give him children.
Ill.
At the end of book 6 Merry finds out she is pregant with twins.
She's pregnant with twins but her children has 6 fathers, and each of those fathers becomes the King to her Queen....

Yeah, I don't really know how to explain this story.
Most of the time Merry was just sleeping with someone.
But the 8th book comes out in December and I want to see how these twins will look.

Again, Nalini Singh, you are so mean.
WHY DO I HAVE OT WAIT UNTIL 2011 TO READ HAWKE'S BOOK????
I already KNOW who Hawke's mate is, but who is Indigo's?
GGRRRR

Nalini Singh is the author of the very interesting Psy-Changeling series.
Also rated 18+.
My coworker recommended this series to me.
She loves it.
A lot.
So I borrowed the first book from her.
I am the slowest reader in the world, but I read the first book, Slave to Sensation, in record breaking time.
The book is set in a future world, about 80 years from now, and the world is divided into three races. Changeling (half animal half human shape-shifters), Psy (possess great Psychological abilities but are completely without emotion), and average humans.
After an increase of violence and rage, back in the 1960's-1970's, the Psy started to condition all emotions from their race.
This act, Protocol I, is called Silence, and the Psy are perfect in their Silence.
Psst, yeah right. Just ask Sascha darling or Ice-man Judd how perfect their Psy are.
But was Protocol I a good idea overall?
NO!!!!!
The story is about those who are fighting against that crazy Psy council, mainly the Leopard and Wolf changeling and their mates-to-be.
AWESOME SERIES!
But don't pay attention to the covers.
The people on the covers look nothing like how the characters are described.

Nalini you really are mean.
July is too far away, and I want to read about this J-Psy Sophia.

The series I am TRYING to read now was also suggest by that same coworker.
It's the Highlander series (rated 18+) by Karen Marie Moning.
I can't really say anything about this series.
I only read one of the books and I'm trying to read another, but I just can't get into it.
That old 16th century Scottish accent is bothering me.
And these girls are very dumb.

That's pretty much all I have been doing besides school.
I still need to book books 4-6 of the Psy/Changeling series.
I borrowed those from my friend but I had to return them.
That sucks.
The Psy/Changeling series also have about 3 novella's out.
Well two are out now, and one comes out next August.

I need to pick up another part-time job and as much money as I have spent on books in the pass month, I need to work at Barnes and Noble.
30% off.

P.S: When I say the books are rated 18+ it's because there had to be a sex scene at least every 4 chapters, and in Merry Gentry, there was a sex scene in every chapter. j/k

P.P.S: I read two other books as well. "Queen of his Heart" and "Ebony eyes". These books are solo books, but they were entertaining.
LAINE!!!!

Not died yet

Okay, so I plan to update soon.
I haven't done much of anything in the pass few months besides School.
I still work, but only 2-3 days a week.
Right now I should be studying for a French test tomorrow, or either sleep.
I have to work on my proposal for my major.
I finally came up with a name for my major: "Neurobiology of Language".
There's actually a study about this as we speak, but I won't get into it because no one would know what I'm talking about.
Back in August I picked up a book (first time doing so since 2005).
That book lead to another, and then another, and then another.
I've read about about 18-19 books, and I have 6 more sitting in front of me that I'll finish but mid-next week, hopefully.
So that will total 24-25 books since August.
And those 24-25 books are all from 3 different series, which my next update will be about.
