Vol 44

As for the picture below...this is a childrens book.
a lot of children who come to my job have this book. or one of the books.
i was just saying the other day that i knew they would turn this into a movie.
Lowandbehold, when i got home today, i saw a preview for it.
Just great, another crappy kids movie.

As far as my resolution goes....i'm getting pretty close.

I won't post little descriptions about them all, this time around, but maybe a brief sentence or two.

But here is a list...If I remember correctly:

Practice Makes Perfect - Julie James (Like it. The silent feud. hehehe)

Just the Sexist Man Alive - Julie James (What's the most popular actor to do when he's outwitted by the sexy lawyer helping him with a role?)

Bad Blood: Crimson Moon series - L.A Banks (Damn Werewolves and Vampires)

Bite the Bullet: Crimson Moon series - L.A Banks *sigh*

Black Jack - Lora Leigh (She's not that great. Good story, but not how I would have liked it.)

Man of Fame - Rochelle Alers (-le sigh-)

Man of Fantasy - Rochelle Alers (-le sigh-

Man of Fortune - Rochelle Alers (-le sigh-)

Stranger in My Arms -Rochelle Alers (I liked the whole family thing. Reminded me of my family before my grand dad died)

Love Lessons (Novella) - Rochelle Alers (Lots of Rachelle Alers.)

I'm sure there are more, but I can't remember right now.
Need to check my kindle.

On Spring Break right now.
Not much of a break.
I have to work damn near everyday.

Vol 43

So I read this the other day.
Cameron was the Asst. U.S Attorney, fresh on the scene, assigned to the case of the State vs. Roberto Martino.
Five years prior to the start of this story, Jack Pallas, a FBI agent, went undercover in Martino's gang.
He was expose two years later, and was tortured for two days by Martino's men.
Jack managed to kill 8 out of the 10 guys before his back up arrived.
So Jack had way more than enough evidence to take down Martino and his gang.
But one day Cameron comes to his office, after months of working to get a case, and said that the state will not fail ANY charges against Martino or his men.
She told Jack that it was her decision, when really it was her boss, Silas, decision.
Jack said some not so nice things about her on camera, and resulted in a transfer to one of those boring states that start with an N.
Nebraska....Nevada???

Three years later, Cameron is getting her floors done and has to stay at an hotel for a night.
She goes all out and stays at this really nice hotel, but she wasn't able to get any sleep because of the bed-rocking from the next room.
But sex wasn't the only thing going on in that room that night.
A murder also took place.
Cameron is the only witness.

Jack just returned to Chicago that week and was called out in the middle of the night to be the lead man of the hotel murder.
Oh yeah, you know what that means....
Jack and Cameron reunite.
And more than sparks fly.
Some heated words were tossed the entire time.
Good thing Jack's partner Wilkens was there.
...I adore Wilkens. He is just the kind of guy any girl would love to be friends with.
...And Phelps and Kamin are too cool for school.

Anyway, Cameron was put under witness protection.
But when the two daytime officers who were suppose to protect her, failed to check her house properly, resulting in Collin, Cameron's best friend, being knocked out and Cameron held at gun point, Jack jumps in to save her.
And then he takes on her safety personally, moving into her place.

Jack and Cameron already had a terrible time trying to keep their attraction for each other under control, so when Jack found out that Cameron actually saved him from being fired three years ago, and had him transferred instead, and that it was Silas's idea not to file charges, all hopes of restraint vanished.

Jack and Cameron were cute together.
I love a good love/hate story, and this was definitely a love/hate story.
But still, Wilkens stole the show whenever he was around.
So when Wilken, Kamin, and Phelps got together...oh snap.
That scene, so short, but so great.

Definitely recommend this.

Vol 42

I am a shop-a-holic.
Recently, I bought myself a blue sapphire ring.
Sapphire is my birthstone
It's the first piece of "REAL" jewelry I ever bought myself.

I shouldn't have bought this ring.
I spent money I should have saved.
But that's what is means to be a shop-a-holic.

I also bought a few garments for spring/summer.
I wish the weather would warm up.

SCHOOL SUCKS!

Vol 41

Oh ah oh ah ah oh ah!

Yet another series suggested by my lovely tía, Jime.
And yet another vampire series.
My tía is obsessed with vampires, just a little bit.

This is the Young Brothers Series.
The book covers are in order.

The Young Brothers are 3 brothers, who are all vampires.
Each brother has a respective book.
My favorite by far is the youngest brothers' book.
Sebastian's book. I Only Have Fangs For You

Sebastian is such a playboy.
Christian (2nd brother) is such a bad ass.
Rhys (oldest brother) is exactly opposite from both Sebastian and Christian.
But despite their differences, these brothers car a lot about each other.
And it's fun to watch Sebastian ridicule them all.

They have a sister who they thought died many many many decades ago.
But in fact, she didn't.
And she also thought that they died many many many decades ago.
They all reunited after Sebastian found his mate, who happened to be his long lost sister's roommate.

Elizabeth is not a vampire like her three older brothers.
She is a werewolf.
And a not-promiscuous-but-damn-might-as-well-have-been-with-that-move-you-just-pulled werewolf.

I was happy the family reunited.

Oh...I should mention that for a brief moment, Sebastian is also a scooby-doo fanatic.
What is with vampires and scooby-doo?
I don't intend to read enough vampire series to find out.
The whole blood sucking thing rubs me the wrong way.
Thankfully, not that much blood sucking going on.

The titles are hilarious.

P.S: I didn't read Fangs for the Memories yet.
Jime gave me the book list out of order.

So my count is now: 23/52

Vol 40

Add three more to that list of four!

Alpha and Omega is a spin-off to the Mercy Thompson series.
Alpha and Omega is about Anna, the omega werewolf, and Charles, a special Alpha.

I can't remember the book order.
I think On the Prowl is the novella story.
The start.

Anna is a forced change werewolf, who is an omgea.
Omega are extremely, very, rare.
They exist outside pack structure.
They don't have to follow orders, because orders/commands don't work on them.
They can bring peace anywhere they go.
Omega's are to be treated as a prize possession.
The greatest gift.
And Anna was treated as anything other.

Charles is the second son of the over all top werewolf alpha, Bram.
He was sent to...Chicago to handle a situation there after Anna has called Bram to inform him of her local packs...operation.

Charles immediately knew that Anna was his mate, and would kill anyone who dared to harm her.
Charles, like Mercy, is half Native American.
Once upon a time, the Native American's possess their own branch of magic.
Magic that made them immune to most of the European magic.

This series is more mild compared to Mercy's life, but I would LOVE to see the two stories meet.
It's not hard.
Mercy was raised in Brams pack, although she is a coyote.
She dated Bram's oldest son, Charles's brother, Sam for a while.
All the characters know each other.
I just want to see when they all meet.
At least mention them in the other's story.
I hope in book 5, Sam tells Mercy that Charles as mated.
Just for a cross reference.

So what does this make my book count: 20/52
I think I'm doing well.

Vol 39

The snow was a series issue this month.
But because of that snowpocalypse, I was about to read, not one, but FOUR book.
My tía, Jime, told me about the Mercy Thompson series.
So trusting my tía, and knowing she wouldn't recommend something that was an utter failure, I read the series.

I am NOT big on the whole Vampire and Werewolf thing.
I think it's played out.
Over used.
Washed up.
A has been.
Dead!
End of story.

So I had no hopes at all for this series.
Not a one.
Jime never has never failed me.
I actually LIKED this series.

The story is about Mercedes Thomspon, who is a shape-shifter.
She shifts into a coyote.
Mercedes lives next door to the local wolf pack alpha, Adam.
The story focus on the Mercy's life as she deals with werewolves, a scooby doo loving Vamipre, Stephan, and the fae.
Mercy had a average life, as average as a female mechanic can have, but when she gets involved in one little incident, her life changes and she has to fight to live.

Seriously, Stephan and the Scooby Doo thing is hilarious.
He had Mercy turn his van into an exact replica of the mystery machine.
She even gave him a life size scooby-doo plush for him to sit in the front seat.

My overall favorite character is Wolfe.
Wolfe is a little blond teenage looking vampire.
But he's so strange.
And he just gets more strange.
I love how he nods his head to the beat of Mercy's heart whenever she's around, and how he cools out "Truth" with so many different tones.
I wonder if he's really a bad guy, or if his weirdness is just that.

The picture above is a merged image of the 4 books that are currently out.
The 5th books comes out next month.

Vol 38

Stuck in my bedroom
Staring at my blue walls
This snow getting on my nerves

I'm stuck in the middle of a back to back snow storm.
It snowed this past Friday/Saturday, giving us about 25inches of snow.
Then on Tuesday, another snow storm hit us, giving us about 15 more inches.
Life sucks right now.
I've been stuck in this house.
Talk about cabin fever.
I have nothing to do but school work, which I haven't even thought about doing.
I've been sitting her on my computer, reading.
Nothing else to do.
Can't go to Barnes and Noble to buy hard copies of the books, so I have to read the ebook.
My butt is sore.
Damn snow.
At least it got me out of school ALL WEEK.
