Vol 134

I know I complain about the price of ebooks all the time, but let's go further into that.

Back before I bought a Kindle, I had the kindle program downloaded on both my ipod and PC. A lot of novels that I read run $7.99 in paperback format when I buy them from Barnes and Noble, and when I would purchased them on Amazon, I would pay about $5.99. Now, the prices are equal. It pisses me off because I paid over $100 for the ereader, yet I still pay the same amount for the book. Therefore, I actually spent more money when I was originally trying to save.

And what do I get for it?

I get the book instantly. That's a plus, but is that a big enough plus. I also save trees and space. That's another plus, but still, is it plus enough? Sometimes it feels like it is, but other times it doesn't.

Right now, I'm not happy I'm paying the same amount for an ebook that I pay for a physical copy. I could actually buy it used from someone for a penny. I feel cheated. Then there's the fact that amazon will sell the hard copy book for less than the Kindle edition. WTH man! Other times, like when I buy self-published books and I only pay $1 or $2, I feel satisfied.

There have been plenty of arguments between customers and publishers about the price of ebooks costing so much but publishers spending less to actually produce the novel, and publishers will say that's not true, and even if it does cost a bit less, they don't sell as many copies of the ebook as the hard copy, therefore, they have to make up the money some way. B.S. Publishers also complain about books being pirated. *rolls eyes* When you put anything on the internet, it's going to be pirated. It's as simple as that. The question is, should they charge so much for the ebook to make up for a lost that was guaranteed from the beginning? Hey! Here's an almost-not-really-solution. How about dropping the price of those ebooks that are even with the hard copies by a few bucks (depending on how much the hard copy cost) and maybe more people will buy the novel when they first look at it instead of looking for a book and saying, "Oh hell no!" to the price, then turning around to find a torrent for it. That's what I would do Just saying. But it doesn't matter what the publishers decide because stupid fans like me will still buy the books...a third of the time.

You know, I want to boycott over priced ebooks. I mean, it's not like I have the same privileges with the ebooks as I have with my paper copies. I can't loan it to anyone who highlight it (although most ereaders allow you to highlight text, it's not the same). It's actually more time consuming locating pages. But, will I boycott them? It depends. I'm a little obsessive over some books and will pay for them regardless of the price if I want it terribly, and my utter dislike of library books cuts that option. But if it's not a novel of a series I already read I would probably not purchase it.  

So really? Am I being scammed by publishers who feel they should charge more for ebooks so they can recooperate the money or am I breaking even and/or getting off?

Vol 132

This movie was released recently. One Day. Yeah, it's a romance movie that people make fun of me for wanting to see. Who cares. Anyway, I just read it and now i'm a bit....melancholy. Emma was a very likable person, whereas Dex on the other hand was more annoying, but it worked for him. The whole spoiled, rich, drunk act. Still want to see the movie, but maybe i'll get up and leave at a certain part. Also, not sure how well Anne Hathaway can pull off a Yorkshire accent. This novel was great because of the entire mix up of British English with American English. When she said he smelled of the wine they drank and fags I all but peed myself.

One second thought, maybe I won't see it. I've saw the preview and they've changed so damn much of the novel that I'm sure I'll be pissed off.

Vol 125

Okay. I kind of have a lot to say right now.
First; both my laptop and desktop have crashed and burned. So i'm without a computer until I come back from Los Angeles. Sucks. Guess i'll have to bum my mothers laptop.





Second; I'm going back to LA next week. I'm staying at the same friend's place, my okaasan, but this time different friends will be joining us. Oohh, i'm excited. And now that my travel sickness doesn't bother me nearly as much, I can actually look forward to a trip. 




Third; Since my laptop has broken, I can no longer participate in camp Nanowrimo. Not happy about this. I was looking forward to working on Noor 2. I miss my characters. And because the computer's are broken, I have to pause my other work as well. Sucks again. But i'm a lazy author who will enjoy the reprieve.




Fourth; Is it Sept 27th yet. Yes, that is my birthday but I'm looking forward to my date with Strider...and Kaia. Love those Harpies. I can't wait to see how each character reacts to him being her consort. Lol. Priceless.

Vol 122

I'm starting to wonder if investing in a kindle (or any ereader for that matter) was a smart decision.
Some of the perks of shelling out so much for the reader was the in exchange it saves bookshelf space and you pay less for the ebook than the paper/hardback book.
But lately all the kindle ebooks have gone up in price.
They now cost the same as the paperback book.
At first, I could purchase a $7.99 paperback book on my kindle for as low as $4.59 to $6.99.
Not that much of a discount, but a discount none the less.
Now I'm paying the exact same amount, and I'm not happy about that.
In the end, I'm the one who lost because I'm still paying regular price after I spent hundreds of dollars to get the reader.
Lately, I've reverted back to paperback books because I can get them from Barnes and Nobles for $5 with my discount card.
Mah...this sucks.
I wonder if enough people complain about feeling cheated, maybe the prices will go down again.

Vol 118

So, Tia, you suggested (more like forcetolddemanded) I read SEP's novels in order starting with Glitter Baby.
And I have.
Finished it today.
And I have to say I hated them all.
The adults were completely unlikable and irresponsible.
Belinda was a pain in everyone's ass.
I don't like dependent women.
It's not dependent women even, it's her complete lack of individuality.
She feeds out of the success of others instead of working hard herself.

Lets not even start with Alexi.
He could have been such a likable character.
I even understood why he made her give Fleur away.
But to treat everyone with such contempt, to ruin that girl over a fecking car...TRYING TO CONVINCE HER TO HAVE HIS CHILD. His own fecking stepdaughter.
He's nucking futs.
And I just knew Belinda would do that when he had the second stroke.

It was funny how no one seemed to care about Michel until halfway through the book.
He just disappeared as a teen and they couldn't give less of a feck.
At least he and Fleur worked out their bitterness.
It was so hilarious when he tried to protect her from Jake, when Jake would rip him six ways to Sunday.

I don't even want to beginning with Fleur and Jake.
Some of her plight I can understand.
She doesn't think she's as good looking as people say she is.
Hell, I don't think I'm as good looking as people say I am.
I seriously stare in the mirror and wonder what they see, like Fleur.
And I hate taking pictures even if people say I'm photogenic, like Fleur.
So that much of her personality I could understand and sympathize with.

I'll just say that she over reacted back then.
I mean, it's understandable to leave but not for 6 years.
And not run into the man who has hated you all your life and suddenly is so sweet to you.
She was so naive.
Just as naive as Jake.
I was like, "aww" when he cried.
Why?
Guys crying...hot guys crying...such a beautiful sight.
Unnerves me like nothing else, but can be so refreshing.
Does that sound sadistic of me?

Anyway, I'll just say that Jake is freaking hilarious.
Sundance Kid, really? REALLY?
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!

Vol 112

I bought an Kindle today.
I've wanted one for a long time.
I asked my mother to buy me one for my birthday last year, but she didn't want to spend $200 on it.
So today, I caved.
It's not so bad.
I'm search a techno savvy, I can put books on here that I purchased from other websites.
It takes some manipulation to do so, but I get it done.
I won't explain it.
Just go to Amazon if you're curious.

I also purchased my plane ticket to Los Angeles.
I'm going next month for about 4-5 days.

Actually, now that I think about it, I spent close to $1000 today.
YIKES!

Vol 110

So I've been reading the Tairen Soul series on and off this month.
This series would probably gain a large audience if it wasn't classified as Romance.
When I first looked for it at Barnes and Nobles, I didn't look in that section, and was surprised when I found it there.
It's more Sci-Fi/Fantasy.
I finally got around to reading book 2, and I liked it.
Go figure.
I almost like everything.
But there was one scene that made me vomit in mouth.
Purple Prose in its Prime.
This scene was when Rowan asked Rain what did it feel like for the first bond with his truemate to take place.
You see, while the Fey can fuck around and screw whoever they want, or even take a mate, a truemate is rare, something all Fey want, but most will never find.
Anyway, I think I vomited again just now typing this quote.

"What does it feel like?" Rowan asked...
"Peace," he said at last. "Like waking in a field of soft grass on a warm spring day and knowing for the first time exactly who you are and what your purpose is in the world. and humbleness, as if you were standing before the Bright Lord with all the dark ugliness of your soul laid out before you, and despite everything, he showers you with light until every last stain fades away." A smile spread slowly across his face. "Flame, too--especially under the effects of her weave--but I'll say no more about that. Some things should remain private between a Fey and his mate.

Vol 108

More so than Shadowfever, this doesn't seem complete.
This -I liked, but that's a given. I a fae addict- leaves off when Ash and Puck (surprise surprise) going on another adventure.
Meghan is off taking on her new role as ruler for now.
But Ash's journey seems to open up something else entirely.
I can't seem to remember what promise he made that he has to fill.
Or why that would involve finding Grimalkin.
I almost cried with that cats farewell.
I loved that snarky feline.

I know this was the end of the Iron Fey series, but I think Julie should write another novella, give us more closure.
Or maybe that's just me being greedy for more.
This is one of the only series why I liked all the characters.
Usually female teenage heroines annoy me to all end, but not Meghan.
I adored her the entire journey.



Edit:
Imagine the scream I had to suppress at 3am when I learned that this actually isn't the last book of the series like it was first stated, and that another book will be out called, The Iron Knight, and that book is told through Ash's POV. *scream*

It's a whole book right? It's not simply a novella right? It's listed as The Iron Fey 4. That means it's a complete novel right? The other novella, Winter Passage, was listed as 1.5. Since this isn't 3.5 but 4, that means it's a full length novel right? Oh please, oh please, oh please let it be. I would kill to know Ashallyn's thoughts. Especially where Puck is concerned. Those two will never be the enemies they speak they are. Their old friendship is still there.

Topaz! I liked this.
(Will edit this entry tomorrow night after work. Or tomorrow before work since the bastard children like to be little hell-raisers and wake me up at insanely early hours of the morning. Besides, it's 3:30am. I should be sleep.)

Beverly Jenkins is an historical romance author.
It's not the romance that I like.
All that crap is the same.
And I'm seriously sick of females melting like candy bars (I'll come back to this later), and guys being oh-so perfect (I'll come back to this as well.)

Beverly's leads are black, at least the ones I read and assume all her leads might be black.
While I read Topaz, a story about a newspaperwoman who ends up being given away to a black Seminole to pay off her fathers debt (crazy ol man), I had to stop and google a lot.
And I mean a lot.
Beverly litters her stories with so many names, events, locations, and dates I wanted to know if they were facts or just fictional facts created for the story.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered what she wrote was real.

Now I'm of African and Native American decent, but I know pretty much nothing of Native American history, and the African American history I was force to suffer through during grade schooling was always about the same people: Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Fredrick Douglas, etc, and so on and said forth.
To tell the truth, but time I got in 12th grade I absolutely hated African American history.
I was sick of learning about the same people over and over.
There's so much more that could have been taught, but it never was.

I learned more while reading Topaz than I did in school.
And I actually enjoyed reading it.
Now, I have a little knowledge about Black Indians and Indian Wars.
Even if it's just a little knowledge, it's more than what I learned before.
And they way Jenkin incorporates it, how she ties her characters to it -excellent.

After reading Topaz I read Always and Forever.
That was Blake's and Grace's story, two characters from Topaz.
Beverly gives a little pirate and ship-slave history in this book, as well as the worries and concerns that someone who isn't able to trace their roots would feel.

The heroines of the stories are always something that during the, 1884, would be considered absurd.
Katherine (Topaz) was a newspaperwoman. Back then it was still frowned upon for females to have jobs. No one wanted to hire a newspaperWOMAN, especially a black one. But Kate was intelligent and highly literate, familiar with more text than anyone else.
Grace (Always and Forever) was a banker. Yep, that's right. Good in math and had very strong backbone to take on any male.
She definitely was more than Blake expected her to be.
And Loreli, I have yet to read her story but she is in both Topaz and Always and Forever, was a gambler. A female gambler. Talk about no-no. She was so out of the norm that even some women turned their noses up at her.
And one thing about the women in this story, no matter the race, they pretty much always stuck together.
In their eyes, women as a whole were still belittled, not just woman of one race.

Anyway, as you can see, there is a lot to gain from these stories.
It's not your typical romance.
Not even your typical historical romance.
I read a few others but this author is the only author I've read who used real facts.
Hats off to you Madam.





Oh, I didn't forget about the candy bars and oh-so perfects. I'm saving that for a completely different post.

Vol 106

This book will be released January 18th 2011, which is in 5 minutes.
I preordered it on the kindle back in July.
But I still won't get it into the wee hours of the morning.
I'm so impatient for it.
What made MacKayla scream.
I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight until I get this and find out.
Doesn't matter much to me.
I'm usually up until 3am any.
Lets just hope I don't have to wait that long before amazon decides it wants to send it to me.

Yes, I was up for it. And but of course I started to read it.

Edit3: So I finished the book 6am this morning.
This book was the same length as Millie's Fling, yet it took me twice as long.
Weird, since I wanted this one so badly, I expected to devour it in a matter of hours.

Man, there is so much I want to say about this book.
First I'll say, FINALLY! Answers to all question.
This novel is like a whirlwind. It just keeps spinning and spinning.
Because it's the last novel of the series, you know that you'll get answers for all the questions you have.
What you don't realize when you first open the book is how many more questions you'll ask.
Moening saved every answer for the end. Which drove me insane.
When you finally think, "Ah! An answer," you soon realize it's not an answer at all.

So much is discovered. We finally learn about all that is Barrons and his men. Why Barrons would never answer any question about himself was because of a code he and his men have. But damn, they are truly the baddest and most cursed MFer's of the land. To never die??? Ever?? Of course they can be killed, Barrons died a number of times in this book, but he will always come back. Unless he's V'Krucked!

And I like V'Kruck.
He and the other hunters were a nice breath of fresh air...in a way.
All they wanted was to be free and fly.
Fuck a war.

What motivates the Fae.

But the biggest question of it all was, "Who and what is MacKayla?"
Another bigger question, "Where is the Unseelie King?"
I'll just say, you'd never would have question who the Unseelie King is based on previous books. But I had a feeling I knew who it was.
I just never suspected MacKayla was a distance extension of him.
Like a grand daughter.

And Cruce, Cruce, Cruce.
I knew it was you.
I knew it for a while now, I just refused to believe it.
I think I knew back in book 3 it was you, but refused to believe it.
You dirty little bastard.
Even after all you've done, you're still on second best...or maybe 3rd.
MacKayla is a factor bigger than you believe, being the Unseelie King's long lost not-really grand daughter and all.

But you have to wonder, just have fecking strong is the Unseelie King.
Even after what Cruce did, he still was no match.

Well I'm glad that little old bitch is dead.
She should have been killed a long time ago, especially after what she made Dani do.
Poor Dani.
Hopefully Mac want kick her ass too much.
We'll never know.
At least there's a good ending.
The world isn't back to normal yet, nor is the threat completely neutralized. As long as no one opens that tomb or MacKayla doesn't go off the deep end, they should be safe from the destruction of the world.
It's a start.
Rome wasn't built in a day, you know.


Edit4: Some random thing I just noticed.
This is the first Fae series whose courts leaders as the Unseelie King and the Seelie Queen,
It has always been the Unseelie Queen and the Seelie King.
I like this Unseelie King. He's not rotten like most Unseelie leadership (Queens) are portrayed.

Vol 103

When 23 year old orphaned, virgin, Royal meets I-have-no-clue-how-old-either-29-or-39-but-lets-go-with-39 year old Dmitry, all her prayers are answered.
What Dmitry offers the black, beautiful, recent college graduated is too good to be true...Well, because it is.
He offers her a job to complete run and manage his new clothing store with a 60K salary, an apartment, tons of expensive gifts and even a chauffeur.
Sounds unbelievable right?
It is.
Because what Royal doesn't know about Dmitry is that he's actually a Russian Mafia boss.
Oh snap!
But Dmitry and Royals love-love relationship sails while, with the occasional interruption, until a vindictive brother comes along with the plot to kill Dmitry.

I haven't finished the book yet. I'm about a third of the way through.
I stumbled across it last night while doing my nightly book search on Amazon for kindle books.
This is a little different from my normal read.
I tend to stay away from crime novels.
My conscience is to open for this type of book.
It makes it hard to sleep at night because I over think things.
But I actually look forward to reading this series.
I know Dmitry's book is first, not sure who is second, but Anatoly's novel comes on later this month.
He's a quiet one, but his silence is LOUD!
And I just love the silent yet deadly types.
When they're not silent and deadly with me.

I have a really bad feeling about this next part.

I said he was a little to brave for...well, him.

Still like him though.
Even if he's a sneaky.

He's a very intimidating kid.
I'll call him a kid, because despite his cold demeanor and scary approach, he's only 20. Maybe 21 by now.
Point is, he's someone I would hesitate to approach, but never back down from.
That's the only way you'd get his respect.
...But probably the fastest way to have him shoot you.

Dmitry...Cory...
Now this I did not expect.
I was panting with worry just now.
But really Cory, make a choice.
You can't have the best of both worlds.

I agree with you.
Screaming and fighting is what any sane person would have done.
Stabbing...yep.
Still agree.
Easily forgiving...not so much.

No matter what you say Royal, I would have like to see Ivan suffer tremendously.
He got off way too easily.

At least she still has Dmitry.

Hopefully his book will be properly edited.
I mean seriously, there were a hell of a lot of SPaG issues in this story.
I understand Dmitry's and Anatoly's habit of skipping over words.
English isn't their first language.
But even Royal would do it or you'll find missing words in the narration.
Rather annoying really.
And the kindle format had a tendency to smashwordstogetherlikethis.
That's just hard to read.
But I can only fault the grammar so much.
My own stories are terrible.
You should see the hard edit I've been working on for one.
The entire paper is red marked.

Even with all that, I still loved this.
I mean, I've read tons and tons of IR romance novels.
But this one is definitely one of my favorites.
Top 3 after Tammy William's Choices and Blindsided.
The thing I liked most was Royal.
I'm so sick and tired of reading stories with black female characters and not relating to them at all.
Granted, I'm not an orphan or have shot a man before, but Royal and I are a year apart, and some of the things that she feels I understand.
She has an innocence to her that I relate to.
I grew up in the hood, but I have morals and goals.
Her self respect was off the hook.
You go Royal.
You don't find many female leads like that.

Lets go Anatoly.
I pray his fight with his cousin is better than the fight between Ivan and Dmitry.
God I wish I could torture Ivan.
*Yes Yes. I'm a little protective over Royal. So what*

Side note:
I know a bit of Russian.
But that's no surprise.
I know a bit of over 8 languages.
I wonder if Latrivia speaks Russian or if she had to research it for this novel....?

Vol 102

I have been up for over 24 hours, and I have never been more energetic.
That is all thinks to Jill Mansell and Millie's Fling.

Now, I'm a girl of humor.
If you can't make me laugh, you suck at life.
If you can make me laugh...rock on!
And man oh man, did Jill having me laughing from 12:30am to 11am.
(Yes, I'm that slow a reader, but this novel was freakishly long.)

A lot of reviews, although score this with extremely high marks, don't do justice to this book.
Me, I like when the characters in the beginning are also in the end.
I don't like when you introduce me to Billy and Mandy and by the end of the story it'll be Mandy and Dave, or Billy and Susan.
It's annoying.
I usually fall for the characters I first meet, and I'd like the see those same characters at the end.

Well, Mansell did a fantastic job with characterization in this novel.
Besides Hester, who was annoying flawed in a realistic way, almost all the characters were lovable.
Except that cheating snake Gile...Gail...whatever his name was, and his mistress.

Anyway, the story starts off with Millie's at-the-time boyfriend proposing that they move in together.
But she wasn't listening to him at all, her intention focused on the would-be suicidal victim contemplating jumping of a cliff.
She ends up taking the lady out of it, Orla, a famous romance novel.
As a consequence, that boyfriend left her stranded on the cliff.

I'm going to say that the story has two starts.
Start one is when Millie and Hester find a wallet.
They search the wallet to find out who it belonged to.
Finding a cell number in the wallet, Millie calls it and plays a joke that goes horrible wrong and leaves her with an enormous amount of guilt.
She apologizes, but still feels guilty.

A few days later, guilt even stronger than before, Millie's house phone bill arrives.
Relief, the number she had forgot, she now can get from the bill and call.
But she starts off with another joke, this one landing her with a not-a-date-just-to-be-clear.

The second start of the story is when Orla decides she's going to write her next novel with a different approach.
It'll be realistic, about real people. real life situations, and Millie is her start, with Hester, Lucas, and a few others as subplots.
Millie warns Orla that her life is rather boring, but no fear...Orla has a well of innocently manipulating everything.

As much as I want to, I won't tell the story.
I'll just say, LUCAS IS THE GREATEST EVER!
What little scenes he has, he leaves you with an impression.
A serious impression.
What he did to Hester...there isn't a character alive who can ravel that move.
I screamed with laughter for 10 whole minutes.
And this was at 6:30am.
I adored him.
Seriously.
Really.
Best character alive.
Con as well.
But mainly Lucas.
And of course Hugh, who was an absolutely doll, even with that jackass of a move he pulled.
Millie was such an easy-going normal girl...with cheap shoes.
But her father and Judy as fantastic.
Her mom...not so much.
Her mother was really the most annoying character around.

There are some clapping moment in this story.
Orla's scorned wife scene was great.
I had to clap for her.
Her shocked-utterly attracted to the enemy scene as well.
She was such a lovely person.
She didn't deserve any of the stuff her husband put her through.

Lucas also has a few scenes.
His reputation as a playboy is widely known, but when he actually shows morals and give sound advice...*claps*
He's so full of himself.
What he does TO Hester FOR Hester...as hilarious as it was...*claps*

And despite Hugh's total asshole scene, he makes you squirm in a good way.
Never once did I feel bad for his situation.
He's not the type of character who would accept pity.
He was so light, airy, and found humor in everything.
Which was great because he turned all of Millie's embarrassing scenes into humor for her.
Especially the second phone conversation.

Anyway, being up for 27 hours now is starting to kick in.
I can't remember what I was going to type next besides, GO READ IT!

It's so I can TRY to keep a total of how much I spent on books already.

I'm too lazy to sit up, so I'm typing this from my phone.




Right now, I'm reading Patricia Briggs' Masques.
This book is old. First came out when I was 5, back in '93, but has been reworked and released again.

It won't match up to the Mercy Thompson series, more than likely, I can tell even if I'm only on chapter 3.
But it's going to capture me because of Wolf.
Wolf reminds me of Barrons from the Fever series.
So much power and skill, but a complete mystery.
Only Wolf is easier to figure out.
Again, I'm only on chapter three, but I've been all too sure that Wolf is really Cain, the Archmage's son, since the Archmage and Myr mentioned that he has/once had a son.
Aralon is starting to suspect that as well, but she's trying to reason it out. Yet the more she reason's the more i'm convinced.


Edit: Oh yeah, I'm positive I'm correct about Wolf.
No need to even doubt myself.

Vol 91

I've waited a very, very, very long time for this book.
It comes out today.
I finished it yesterday.
Oh, the wonders of preordering.

Now that I've read it, I can say with certainty that I think I am more Mercy than Indigo.
Which is strange in and of itself in a way, but that's what I truly think.

I would have liked more of a plot to this book, more psy-action, more of the war.
The Indigo/Drew action was wonderful.
He is such a sneaker charmer.
The Hawke coming to a realization....or more like Hawke knowing what he needs to do with a certain no-longer-redhead was GREAT.
Especially when she shut him down by saying she didn't come back for him.
-le sigh- Go Sienna.

But with the last scene, I have a feeling book 10 will have more psy-war-action.
I can't wait.
Especially since this is the book I've been waiting for since I first picked up the series.
Lucky for me I got into it very late.

Now I need to sleep because I need to wake up in 5 hours for class.

Vol 83

Just got finished chatting with this darling lady and a few other authors.
Now I know there will one day, hopefully, be a book 3 for the Extraordinary Girl series.
Hopefully it won't take 4 years.


Going to do homework now.
I was sick all weekend, and besides going to work, the only thing I did was sleep.

I should have never recommended the Fever series to her.
She's been texting me for the last hour asking questions, questions that could be answered if she just READS.
But it's all good.
That just means she likes the series, and I love when people like my recommendations.

The other topic is a sleepy conscious.

Recently I've been having the reoccurring ongoing dream.
Pleases me much.
I love when I have reoccurring ongoing dreams.
But this dream started out fun and entertaining.
Then, suddenly it was agony and depression.
Now, it's calm and mellow, which is great compared to the previous nights dream.
I wonder if it will continue when I sleep tonight, but it felt like it came to an end when Su texted me, waking me from my very late nap.

Guess who I'm going to see this fall?
KEVIN HART!
This guy is seriously funny.
One of the only comedians I truly find funny.
His style of comedy is similar to that of the legendary Bernie Mac.
He's a story teller.
He tells stories about his life, family, and friends, and it is just funny.
He's coming to Baltimore in October.
Can't wait!


Other news:
My birthday is coming up.
I'll be 22 at the end of next month.
I have no plans.
I never plan and celebrate for my birthday.
Is that terrible?
Anyway, the only thing I want this year is a car.
My attention span as always been to short to allow me to drive.
It still is, but I need one.

School starts next week.

My classes are never how I hope they would be.
Is it too much to ask for for a little entertainment and candy during class?
Doesn't sound like to much.
It's the least the school can do after making me spend so fucking much for books and little gadgets that they change every semester, therefore I'm forced to by a new fucking clicker every semester for $40 and then pay another $15 to have the shit activated.
If you haven't realized yet, I'm pissed.
I get pissed just thinking about it.

Other school bits:
School starts on Tuesday and I'm trying very hard to decide if I want to take Japanese again.
Yeah, I know. I said in an earlier entry that I was taking it, but after some schedule tweaking I dropped it.
But the problem is that I have a 5 hour gap between classes.
I could use that to study, but more than likely I won't.
Since I only have 14...or is it 15 credits?...I should take it.
That would give me 18.
But the problem is I have 4 hard ass classes already.
I don't want to overload myself.
I never study, so overloading myself on school work can be pretty damn easy for a procrastinator such as myself.
I should do it.
The other problem is that I should have received credit for these classes already, but they didn't accept them from when I studied abroad.
I could always try to test out of it, but my school doesn't have a basic Japanese test.
I would have to go to NYU just to take their standard Japanese grading test.
It's also been what?...almost 2 years since I've last studied Japanese.
I should retake it.
Bah!
I have a few more days to decide.
The one thing that consistently makes me drop the class is the textbook.
WORST TEXTBOOK IN THE WORLD.
No foreign language should be taught in romanization if it doesn't use roman letters.
Japanese uses Kana and Kanji. Not ABC's.
It's horrible.
A total way to kill any knowledge.



Some different stuff:
I'm a lazy bum.
Too many ideas.
Not enough energy and focus to actually get anything done.
You know the one time I can concentrate?
During class.
That's not the best time to be sidetracked.
Or right now for instance.
I should be sleep.
I have work to leave for work in less than 6 hours, yet I'm still up.



Last bit of book news for tonight:
So recently I've ventured into Young Adult novels.
Still the same genre: Fantasy.
Hey! I tried to branch out.
I truly did.
I got so damn bored with the other stories that I barely finished 4 pages.
But I'm reading for fun.
If it bores me, then too bad so sad.
Anyway, I've read Gena Showalter's Intertwined.
Yes, another Gena book. Shut. Up!
Those characters really are intertwined.
Stupid vampires are in it.
That was a sneak attack.
Werewolves too.
But I like Riley.
He can thanlkthe other wolf Riley from the Psy-Changeling series for that like.
It was passed on by name.
Book 2 comes out next Tuesday...although I think Barnes and Nobles website already released it.
Either way, I ordered my copy so I'll get it soon.

I've found another author I sorta kinda like. Maggie Stiefvater.
No clue in hell how to pronounce that name. *shrugs*
But her stories are very mellow while having action, conflict, and a balance of emotions at the same time.
That's good.
I've read her novel Shiver.
It's the first book of the Wolves of Mercy Falls series.
I've heard that was optioned and will now be a movie....*shrugs again*
I have the second book, but I haven't read it yet.
I got distracted by Gena.
Then I went out and bought Maggie's novel Lament.
It's a faerie series.
We all know how I love those Fae.
Just finished that tod...yesterday.
Ordered the second book as well.

Anyway, ordered her other novel Giant Slayers.
It's an adult novel.
Not fantasy.
See, I have been trying to step out my book.
It's about these three female friends and the woe's of their lives and all that other mess....
Not sure what to expect.
I read the first view pages on her website and it opened with a guy blowing his brains out......

Vol 70

I think I've turned into a book fanatic.
It's not so bad, but my genre of interest is limited.
I'm a paranormal, sci-fi, fantasy kind of girl.
While the majority of the fans in this genre are Vampire crazy, I am not.
No Twilight for me.
EVER.

My interest has always been that of psychic abilities, which is why I love the Psy-Changeling series so much.
But more so than that, Mythology is just plain, completely, mind buggingly interesting.
I love it.
Always have.
Always will.

I love reading fiction stories with Greek and Roman gods.
While the gods don't play THAT much of a role in Gena Showalters Lords of the Underworld series, ol' Cronus is in it enough to keep me entertained.
But even more than that, I think the Fae are my all time favorite myth.
If you don't know who the Fae are, they are the Irish myth.
You may know them as the Fairy.
The fae are just fan.fucking.tastic.
And not all of them are tiny, glittery, and fly.
Ohhh no.
There are tons of different fae.
The worst being the Unseelie.
The Unseelie is a court, place of residence, the Dark, the ugly, the dangerous.
There is a Seelie court, the Light, the pretty, the fairer of the two, but that makes them no less dangerous.
The Unseelie are my favorite.
No matter what story I read, how badly they are portrayed, they rock.

I'm reading Karen Marie Moning's DarkFever series right now.
I'm surprised that I'm even reading this.
I found her Highlander series completely insane.
Those stupid females.

The Unseelie in this story are not so likable.
They are truly crude, hideous, despicable, and monstrous.
But the funny part is, the worst character, the ulitimate bad guy is Human.
It's always the Human.
Just goes to show who the real monsters are.

BARRON!!! He's just so damn mysterious. It's been two books now and I still only know NOTHING about him. What kind of hero is he really? If he's really even a hero. He's so infuriatingly complicated, evasive, cold, mean, but all the while he can be so cool. Bastard that he is. It turns out that I'm reading this series for him. Frog MacKayla. Feck V'Lane. I don't even know how you say that name...V'Lane. And if I was MacKayla I wouldn't trust anyone. Which she doesn't. Smart girl, and that's saying something since I found all the other female leads Moning wrote in her Highlander book to be completely hopeless.

I want to be team Barron, but I can't be team Barron when I know absolutely nothing about him. I can't be team V'Lane. One thing I learned from Merry, Meghan, and Mercy, never trust a Fae. V'Lane has unexplained loyalties and feelings for Mac. That is just untrustworthy. That wouldbe rapist.

I think I got that off my chest.

Who cares about a Team Jacob or Team Edward, when you can be Team Puck or Team Ash!

You're hilarious and adorable, but the cold (literally) Prince is who I side with.


I started two young adult Trilogy's recently.
Neither are completed, and the waits are insane.

The first one I started was Asleep by Wendy Raven McNair.
Adisa is a 16 year old, who gets a emotionless boyfriend, Micah, who just so happens to be a super. He can fly.
Adisa is obsessed with the whole super hero thing to the point that her twin sisters pick on her about it.
When she first meets Micah, in class on the first day of school, he doesn't reply to her greeting, and she had no idea he was her new neighbor.
So when he and his family shows up at her house for dinner that night, she was shocked speechless, and completely embarrassed as her sister made fun of her super hero fascination.

But you later learn that Micah will die soon, and that the only way to save him is for the healer, a girl, that he falls in love with to forgive his Sp. Twin.
Good thing is Adisa is the healer. She developed her powers later in the story.
The bad thing is, Micah's Sp. Twin, Vincent, kidnapped Adisa.
There is no way she wants to forgive him.
But nonetheless, she and Micah are determined to find a way to save him, while the go against those who oppose them, Micah's dad.



The other trilogy is the Iron Fey trilogy.
I'm not going to explain what a fae is.
I think I've done that one before when I read the Merry Gentry series, or maybe the Mercy Thompson series.


Meghan is another 16 year old girl, what's with the 16?, who is an outcast in school. She has one friend, Robbie, and no one can remember Robbie once he is gone. Strange.
One day Meghan's little brother is kidnapped and a strange person/thing impersonating her brother is in her house.
The imposter is attacking her when Robbie comes to her rescue.
Robbie then goes on the explain what the imposter is, and who is probably responsible for kidnapping her brother.
He also reveals that his name is not really Robbie Goodfell, but Robin Goodfellow, or just Puck.
If you're familiar with A Midsummer's Night Dream, or anything about old mythology and such, you'll recognize of few of the characters and creatures.

Meghan accompanies Puck into the Nevernever (Faeryland) to rescue her brother, where they are chased by this guy with black hair and pale skin, who has a bunch of warrior guys with him.
Puck hides Meghan by tossing her into a tree, where she lands and scares away the bird that Grimalkin the cat was about the eat.

These four are pretty much the main characters on the adventure.
Meghan finds out she's a fae princess to the Seelie court (summer). Her dad is King Oberon, and her stepmother threatened to kill her.
She meets Mab, the queen of the Unseelie court (winter), who wants to capture her, and Mab's three sons.
The pale dude with black hair is one of Mab's sons, Prince Ash!

Meghan gets Puck and Ash to stop fighting long enough for the two of them to work together to rescue her brother, but everything has a cost.
Grimalkin is there mainly because he finds Meghan entertaining.

The travel in and out of Faeryland to the real world a few times. Fought some humans, Trolls, grimlins, and other mystical creatures.

The main antagonist in this series are the Iron Fey, who are a major threat to the Fae. The Fae and Iron just can't mix. Iron can kill even the strongest of fae, which you'll see in this story. But with the birth of these Iron fae, thanks to us humans who love our technology, the rest of Faeryland will eventually become extinct. The only ones to know about the Iron Fae are Meghan, Ash, Puck, and Grim.
But with Puck currently out of the picture, Grim gone, Ash gone, and Meghan being held captive by Mab, no one can inform the rest of the land and warn them.

Book 2 comes out next week on the Kindle.
I already pre-ordered it.
I pre-ordered Burning Up as well. Nalini Singh's newest novella is in that book.


I can't remember half the books I read recently so I won't even try to list them all. I won't even try to list them because some of the books I loaned to friends, or borrowed from friends and no longer possess. Just know that I've probably completed my resolution twice over.


I'm reading Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lighting Thief right now.
